3 Things to Know About Earthquake Coverage

3 Things to Know About Earthquake Coverage

ON March 31, 2020 there was an earthquake felt all around Idaho. The quake registered 6.5 on the Richter scale. This often raises questions from clients about whether or not they have earthquake insurance.

Below are 3 important items to know about earthquake coverage.

1. Earthquake coverage (like flood and landslide coverage) is not included in your homeowner’s policy. Earthquake is an optional coverage (and often a separate policy) that can be purchased separately.

2. Please reach out to us if you would like a quote on earthquake insurance. There is a waiting period from 7 to 30 days after the last aftershock before we can bind coverage. However, we can provide you a quote at any time.

3. Lastly, the price of earthquake coverage is not cheap. The premium can be around 70% or more of your current home insurance premium. That being said, your home is one of your most valuable assets, and many people prefer to have the coverage for peace of mind.

Please call us at 208-322-1030 if you have further questions about earthquake coverage or for a quote.
